Innovative Learning Practices
St Joseph’s students and staff are engaged in learning within flexible, contemporary learning spaces amid innovative learning practices. While classes are still formally clustered in grade by grade groups, co-teaching stage groupings occur throughout parts of the day to maximise targeted learning experiences for the students.
Learning environments throughout the school are fluid, allowing for student movement and furniture arrangements to be altered effortlessly throughout the day to suit the requirements of the learning experience. Students are explicitly taught about, and then encouraged to, make decisions regarding their learning and to make ‘smart’ choices that will allow them to learn most effectively. While student improvement is the purpose of the whole school, students are also aware of their responsibility to empower their own learning through a growth mindset approach to their own development and improvement.
